Moselely Road Baths Campaign Action

The Friends of Moseley Baths have launched a fresh campaign ahead of an important meeting on 20th March which will determine whether or not Moseley Road Baths reopens for swimming.

Supporters are being asked to send messages in any format (letters, posters, photos, videos) to the Hall Green Constituency Chairman, Cllr Tony Kennedy.  Messages should also be copied to the Friends of Moseley Road Baths so that they can present the messages together at March's Constituency meeting.

Councillors in Hall Green Constituency decided in a Constituency meeting in January to delay the reopening whilst further work was done on the building - this time to repaint the ceiling of Pool 2 amid concerns that lead paint could contaminate the pool.

Swimmers and supporters have been asking why this issue was not addressed when the building first closed in December 2010 (purportedly for five weeks!).  There is now a real concern about the stalling of the reopening ahead of important local elections in May.  The pressure is now on to ensure that the Baths reopens for swimming once the paint work is completed in late April.

  • Messages can be in any format: signs, pictures, posters, cards, letters, photos, videos etc.  Please get them to us as soon as possible and by the 16th March at the latest.
  • Write your message to the Constituency Chairman, Councillor Kennedy, and send a copy to us.  We will present it at the meeting.
  • The Hall Green constituency meeting is at 7pm on Tuesday 20th March.  A venue has not yet been decided, but it is likely to be in Sparkbrook.
